The Role

As a Senior Manager of Financial Reporting, you will serve as the expert in all matters related to financial reporting within MessageBird. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that the company’s financial activities are accurately translated into financial statements in compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). You will play a pivotal role by collaborating closely with the wider finance department and various departments across the organization. Your dedication to precise accounting, extensive financial knowledge, and ability to oversee month-end financial activities from inception to conclusion will be instrumental in maintaining accurate financial reporting.

 

What you’ll do

  • Lead the Financial Reporting Process: Take charge of the monthly closing process and ensure strict adherence to established reporting deadlines.
  • Supervise Accounting Team: Review and approve the work carried out by the accounting team, which includes journals, reconciliations, reports, and analyses. When necessary, perform accounting tasks, corrections, and reconciliations.
  • Handle Complex Accounting Topics: Assume responsibility for intricate accounting matters, including but not limited to Purchase Price Allocation (PPA) for new acquisitions, impairment testing, share options accounting, provisions, and more.
  • Prepare Financial Statements: Prepare annual financial statements for the entire group while also reviewing local financial statements to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and deadlines.
  • Manage the Audit Process: Coordinate and oversee the annual audit process, serving as the primary point of contact for group auditors.
  • Establish Accounting Policies and Procedures: Develop, manage, and implement group accounting policies and procedures, ensuring consistent compliance and application across all entities within the organization.
  • Collaborate with External Accountants: Maintain a productive working relationship with external local accountants, particularly regarding monthly reporting and local accounting activities, to ensure high-quality service and outputs.
  • Enhance Internal Processes and Controls: Contribute to the efficiency and effectiveness of internal processes and controls related to financial reporting.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with the tax, legal, and operations teams to support the organization’s overall success.

 

What you’ll bring

  • A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in accounting and controlling, including at least 3 years in a managerial role overseeing a team.
  • Prior experience in a rapidly expanding international tech company, providing you with a deep understanding of the unique challenges and requirements of such an environment.
  • A degree in Business Administration or Finance & Accounting.
  • Proficiency in working with IFRS, managing global entity structures, executing multi-subsidiary consolidations, and ensuring robust control environments.
  • Familiarity with NetSuite (or a similar accounting and reporting platform) is a plus.
  • Strong leadership skills that enable effective communication and organization within your team.
  • A keen eye for identifying opportunities for continuous process improvement, along with the ability to innovate and streamline both financial and operational processes.
  • While not mandatory, experience in the telecom industry would be advantageous.
  • This Senior Manager of Financial Reporting position plays a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy, compliance, and efficiency of financial reporting processes within MessageBird.
