Your Role as a Product Owner:

As a Product Owner you will work closely with various stakeholders to maximize the value of our products and the work of the engineering team. You will own, define, and drive the Product Backlog, and the functional design and implementation for your products. You will be responsible for defining and prioritizing the features that best align and achieve the product strategy and meet market requirements within Agile development life cycles.

You will be a hands-on, engaging with the PM, communicating priorities to the engineering team, engaging all disciplines in planning, design, and implementation as the internal voice of the customer. You will be responsible for ensuring that the right product is delivered on-time and on-quality.

 

A Day in the Life of a Product Owner:

  • Works with Product Leadership team to continuously understand the business needs/technical initiatives and translates them into an actionable vision
  • Initiates and translates product roadmap into manageable product backlog (Story mappings)
  • Manages, adjusts for risk and prioritizes product backlog
  • Leads the delivery of new product features via creation of release documentation, workshops and operational support of launches
  • Connects with Scrum and Support teams throughout the product’s lifecycle
  • Works with team to define US Acceptance Criteria’s, validates US against it
  • Leads refinements and ensures development teams doubts clarification
  • Establishes, with team in the sprint planning meeting, the main goal for the sprint
  • Assures communication about owned product roadmap status into the Product team

What You’ll Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in information systems, computer science, or related technology degree
  • 2-4 years’ experience as a Product Owner of an Agile development team
  • Has successfully helped launch several products
  • Has thorough understanding of Scrum framework and its associated ceremonies
  • Extensive experience working in an Agile environment
  • Fosters a “fail fast” environment, which facilitates learning
  • Ability to develop productive working relationships with both technical and non-technical partners
  • Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal
  • A detail-oriented approach to work
  • Agile/Scrum Master and/or Product Owner certifications a plus
  • Good understanding of Software Development Life Cycle, applicable to enterprise software applications
  • Experience writing detailed requirements documents and user stories
  • Ability to self-manage priorities with minimal day-to-day supervision
  • Creative thinking and advanced problem-solving skills for complex problems
  • Understanding of technical constraints and the ability to work with the team find a solution
  • Ability to understand technical systems and API documentation
  • Competence in the use of the G-Suite (or MS Office Suite)
  • Experience with Atlassian development suite a plus (JIRA, Confluence, Bamboo, etc.)
