We’re looking for someone willing to not only execute things but as well to join us in the challenge of finding the right things to improve along the user journey and propose solutions.

You will be working with different people from the Market area including one other experienced eCommerce Developer and short-term be mainly responsible for:

  • Templating and styling with Gutenberg blocks
  • Improve SEO from a technical perspective
  • Review merge requests of other developers
  • Configuration and maintenance of WordPress and WooCommerce
  • Guide our QA people to test your implementations
  • Help discover issues to be tackled along the user journey
  • Suggest solutions to solve the issues and improve the purchase experience for many people
  • Contribute to open-source projects and maybe create new ones
  • Help our support team in case they get stuck in a challenging support case

Depending on your preference and skills the role will evolve into a senior technical role implementing more technical advanced best practises in our system or focus more on the visual parts and improve the customer experience even more.

We are looking for someone who is proficient in PHP, JS, CSS, Git, preprocessors like Gulp and has 3+ years experience with eCommerce CMS development and all that it involves (shipping, billing, payment gateways, checkout flows), ideally with WordPress and Woocommerce, but that’s a nice-to-have.

Below you’ll find a lengthy description about us, our culture, our commitment to diversity, our expectations, the salary and benefits, and how to apply including a few tips.

We know it’s quite unique to have such a long job description, but we want to help you to get a feeling if this is a place and vision you want to be part of before you invest time into applying, cause time is too precious.

Take your time to read and think about it, there is no bonus for early applications.

About Timeular and diversity

A job doesn’t need to be rewarding all the time, but there is always something we can do to make a job more rewarding and as we spend 1/3rd of our lifetime at work, why not make that time more rewarding? Timeular empowers people to track their job routines to then analyze and design better ones that create more value for themselves and the people around them. We believe this will lead to a future where everyone has a rewarding job.

We don’t believe in work-life balance, because it’s not work vs. life. They inevitably influence each other. A miserable 20h/week job with great work-life balance, will not make your life better. Don’t worry, we don’t believe in working more than 40h/week too. Your private life needs its space and we give you plenty of opportunities and flexibility to improve life outside of work. On top, we try hard to protect your time in- and outside of work by giving you a lot of flexibility, 50 paid holidays, and paid parental leave. In return, we ask you to do your best job every day every 40 hour week.

We are a fully remote team of 18 people working from 8 countries and are between 20 and 40 years old. You can work whenever you want but we’re accepting applications only from people living in a timezone somewhere starting from UTC-5 (US east coast/Peru) to UTC+2 (Western Europe/Egypt).

As you see we are people from many different cultures and countries but we are looking to increase our diversity even more and are committed to building a team that represents a variety of backgrounds, skillsets, and perspectives, and to providing our employees with a work environment free of harassment.

We don’t discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, age, marital status, national origin, ancestry, physical or mental disability, medical condition, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other non-merit factor. We’d especially love to receive applications from individuals who are underrepresented in our industry even if they don’t tick all boxes of this job description.

About how we collaborate

As we work remotely, we communicate a lot in written form. To help you demonstrate the strong writing skills you’ll need for this role, we’ve made the first part of this application process a written task.

We know you can’t perform at your best from day one because everything is new and there is a lot of information to absorb first. That’s why you’ll get assigned an onboarding buddy right after joining Timeular to assist you while getting started with your new challenges and all the questions you might have along the way.

We believe that the most time-efficient communication style, whether it’s client-facing or with your team members, is to be direct but respectful. We’re honest and transparent to each other and we support each other. So should you.

We love working remotely and the flexibility it adds to our lives. In the 4 years working remotely, we have experienced all pros and cons and know that loneliness can be an issue but we have learned how to deal with it and on top, we invite everyone to an on-site retreat 3 times per year.

We respect time because time is the most valuable thing we have: we show up, deliver, and pro-actively communicate in time. We respect everyone’s private time unless there is a real urgency.

We say no to distractions and focus on the important things. We seek the minimal path with the highest possible output. We single task our way along that path. We keep meetings efficient. Basically, we focus on focus.

About the pay and benefits

We offer an attractive transparent salary and very attractive benefits, which are mostly about helping you to live a healthy life outside of work.

The transparent salary including health insurance for this role at hiring ranges between $67,000/€60,000 and $78,000/€70,000, depending on the country you’re in and your experience. After one year of working full-time at Timeular, you can participate in the employee stock option pool.

The benefits we offer are:

  • A friendly, supportive and respectful culture with 18 people from 8 countries.
  • Direct, honest and transparent communication, mostly asynchronous without the urgency to respond to everything immediately.
  • 40h work week, with few meetings (meeting free Thursday) and plenty of uninterrupted time to get work done.
  • Work where, when and how you want as long it is in UTC-5 (US east coast/Peru) to UTC+2 (Western Europe/Egypt)
  • 50 days of paid holidays (including national holidays) because we’ve learned that time off is the best source for great ideas.
  • Three paid team retreats per year to spend an incredible time together discovering unique locations and amazing food. All costs covered.
  • Paid parental leave and flexibility to adapt your work schedule to your family schedule.

How to apply

We don’t need resumes, we care about who you are today, what you have achieved so far and where do you want to go. And we don’t believe in time-consuming cover letters. We believe asking you specific questions is easier than writing a cover letter. Here is the survey to get started.

Our application process is pretty simple: we start by asking you a few questions in written form, you answer them the best you can, we read it and, if we like it, we jump on a call to get to know each other better. If that goes well, we do a test period so we both can verify our expectations and if we both agree, you’re in.

As we always get many applications it might take some time till we get back to you after having evaluated all the applications but we will get back.

Make your time count with us,
Team Timeular
