We are looking for an Engineering Manager to join our Developer Experience (“DevX”) team.   Come join Sololearn as a people leader and scale continuous integration and delivery pipelines to meet the demand of hypergrowth. You will collaborate with engineers, managers, senior leaders, tech educators, product managers, and designers to create the best engineering experiences in the tech industry.

The ideal candidate is a self-motivated self-learner who cares about our customer’s experience, the quality of the app and service, as well as about the quality of the code. You will have a say in decisions about the product design, architecture, and development timelines. The perfect person is not afraid of ownership and is determined to understand the users and help them reach their educational goals. To work with us means to own the following responsibilities:

  • Manage a team of engineers to build great tools and infrastructure that supports the overall engineering organization
  • Help lead and cultivate the technical direction of projects that will impact multiple engineering teams
  • Help implement applications and systems where necessary by writing class-leading code
  • Partner with Recruiting and HR to attract and retain a diverse team through hiring, mentoring, feedback, and career development
  • Develop and implement processes for building better software and better teams, and become an enthusiast for architectural and organizational best practices
  • Thoughtfully negotiate, clarify, and communicate engineering priorities across teams to make sure they align with overall business objectives
  • Effectively partner with other leaders to influence strategic decisions, and advocate for and drive change on behalf of your team
  • Grow the technical expertise within the team and improve quality, scalability, performance, and fault tolerance in systems and developer experiences
  • Champion engineering and operational excellence, establishing metrics and processes for assessment and improvements
  • Create a collaborative and inclusive engineering environment that is forward-thinking, respectful, and effective, while fostering a team culture of accountability, communication, and self-management

Must have:

  • Experience in Computer Science, or related field
  • Have a track record of mentoring and growing people
  • Have extensive experience designing and implementing systems with clarity, reusability, testability, and scalability in mind
  • Are able to communicate and collaborate respectfully and effectively with both technical and non-technical teams
  • Successfully recruit great people to your team
  • Experience leading and managing engineers towards delivering timely high-quality software
  • 5+ years of industry experience with hands-on engineering experience
  • 2+ years of leading, coaching, and mentoring others
  • Technical leadership and experience to ask engineers good questions about architecture and design decisions
  • Have the strong organizational ability and can break up projects into manageable pieces and complete them in a timely manner
  • High proficiency in at least one of the following programming languages: Java, .NET, Kotlin, JavaScript
